Sandy LeBlanc
Over the course of 20 years, Sandy navigated to the top of corporate ladders, juggling career demands and raising a family. This led to high levels of stress, a low immune system and frequent lower back and neck problems. She refocused her own personal journey through fitness, nutrition, and a more mindful lifestyle. This path wasn’t always clear! Like many people, she joined gyms but rarely went; tried fitness classes but lost interest; tried running but found it too difficult. Finally, she decided to look for help.

Taking a ‘Learn to Run’ clinic at the Running Room was literally the first step. Soon, with the right training and encouragement, she was enjoying it. Next, she added yoga and resistance training to the mix. As she focused her physical energy, she experienced mental and emotional benefits as well. Decision-making became clearer but some changes still needed to be made to find that all elusive life balance.

Sandy decided on a complete career change, one that would combine her love of teaching with her interest in fitness and in nurturing personal growth. She pursued Personal Trainer certification with several specialties, and began working with clients. She also became a yoga instructor after years of training in various yoga traditions (Ashtanga, Viniyoga, Kripalu) and an in-depth study of philosophy and meditation.

Distance running continues to be a fitness passion for Sandy, as well as a form of meditation in motion. Sandy co-coaches a Running Room Half Marathon clinic twice a year and continues to find joy in helping that community achieve their long-distance running goals.

In 2011, Sandy opened the FitJourney studio on Annette Street in Bloor West Village. Sandy brings positive energy and compassion to all aspects of FitJourney and through her teachings, helps others discover their own potential for health and wellness.

He enjoys sharing that passion with the athletes he trains, whether they are recreational or competitive, young or old, new to the sport or seasoned competitors. These challenges involve the development of timing and speed, agility and stability, relaxation and dynamism, tactics and spontaneity, lightness and power, fluid movement and explosiveness.

Lee is also a certified coach with Boxing Ontario and is one of their Certified Champs Program Facilitators and Gold Level Evaluators. The Champs Program is a Boxing Ontario initiative designed to provide a safe, fun and non-contact skills progression – Bronze, Silver and Gold levels – from the novice and recreational boxer up to and including the elite, competitive boxer.

University courses in anatomy, neuro-anatomy, physiology, exercise physiology and nutrition supplement have deepened Lee’s knowledge of the technical aspect of boxing and the strength and conditioning programs necessary to develop a competitive or recreational boxer.

Lee is also experienced in Judo, Karate, Tae Kwon Do and Tai Chi and is constantly reading and taking courses to enable him to develop and implement safe, effective and efficient training and movement patterns. Boxing for Lee is fundamentally a matter of the heart – literally and figuratively. He believes that it strengthens both the physiological organ and the spirit of its practitioners. Boxing is a sport that is raw and yet refined; explosive and yet technical; competitive and yet essentially cooperative and centring.

Beatrix Nagy
Beatrix Nagy Stott Pilates teacherBeatrix Nagy is passionate about fitness and even more passionate about women’s pelvic floor health through the mindful movement of Pilates. She studied ballet with the great Bella Kovarsky at Bayview School of Ballet, and Hungarian folk dance as a child and adolescent. Beatrix has been teaching group fitness classes for over 20 years, and in 2013 became a certified Stott® Pilates teacher. She's also trained in several other specialties, includin Fascial Stretch Therapy. She believes everyone should be moving lots, pain free. Beatrix teaches Stott® Intermediate Pilates (with Stretching) at Fit Journey twice a week (Mon & Wed, 12 noon).

When she is not practicing or teaching yoga, Jessica is writing up her doctoral research investigating women’s fears of and experiences associated with HIV disclosure in rural KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

She has since developed an interest in gentle and restorative yoga styles and the desire to share her healing journey with others. She began her teaching career with a 200-hour Teacher Training in 2013, and continues to take advanced trainings in Restorative, Yin and Thai Yoga Massage.
